Current developments for platters with 10tb/sq inch strage capacity will only become reality as the heads are developed to float closer to the platter surface without landing.

Imagine a plane landing in a forest and how many trees it would take out, consider how much data is destroyed or corrupted if the head makes just one track in the platter.

Many larger files could be spread accross several surfaces (some disks have 4 platters, thats 8 sides) consider backing up your data or if it is lost never install data recovery software on the drive needing recovery or save recovered data to the drive being recovered, it could corrupt the data.
